RECOMBINATION: THE FULLDOME JOURNEY

A Mind-Bending Audio-Visual Odyssey by Julius Horsthuis

Where sound becomes structure, and mathematics becomes art.

Immerse yourself in Recombination — a 50-minute fulldome experience where visionary artist Julius Horsthuis and legendary composers Michael Stearns and Max Cooper fuse music, mathematics, and motion into one continuous act of creation.

This is not a film. It’s a journey through living equations. Fractals unfold like galaxies, architecture breathes, and geometry pulses with rhythm. Every beat reveals a hidden symmetry of the universe.

The Music: A Symphony of Worlds

The experience begins with the sound.
Michael Stearns, whose music defined the cosmic tone of IMAX's Samsara, Baraka, and Chronos, returns with new immersive compositions that fill the dome with celestial resonance.
Max Cooper, one of electronic music’s most innovative minds, brings his signature blend of emotion and precision — sound design that feels alive, infinite, evolving.

They are joined by David Levy, Desert Dwellers, Ben Lukas Boysen, Temple Invisible, and Ott — each contributing to a score that transcends genre, scale, and time.

“I got lost in the structures and the scale. I hope you can hear my passion for the project in there.”
Max Cooper

Under the 65-foot dome, 20,000 watts of Dolby Atmos flow through every frequency of being — not just heard, but felt through the body.

The Vision: Infinite Geometry in Motion

Recombination transforms the invisible patterns of nature into monumental landscapes.
Mathematical formulas evolve into vast alien terrains and intricate cathedrals of light — spaces that feel both cosmic and cellular, external and internal.

Every frame is generated from fractal equations using advanced rendering systems like Mandelbulb3D, creating a reality that exists nowhere else but inside mathematics itself. No AI is used.

From a secular vantage, these patterns feel spiritual — a bridge between science and transcendence. They evoke the same awe as gazing at the night sky or contemplating the microscopic architecture of life.

“Meaning is not bestowed by the artist, but unearthed by the viewer. Each observer embarks on a personal odyssey.”
Julius Horsthuis

The Artist: Julius Horsthuis

Dutch visual artist Julius Horsthuis spent over 15 years in film and visual effects before devoting himself to the digital infinite. His fractal worlds have appeared in Oscar-winning films such as Manchester by the Sea, in the *Netflix/Guillermo del Toro series Cabinet of Curiosities, and on the global festival circuit — Coachella, Art Basel Miami, IDFA, and ARTECHOUSE NYC.

Horsthuis has collaborated with ODESZA, Meshuggah, Tigran Hamasyan, and Android Jones, and continues to redefine what digital art can express — merging AI, algorithmic geometry, and cinema into new worlds of perception.

The Dome Experience

10K Resolution Fulldome Projection
Six Christie 4K cinema projectors blend into one seamless 360° visual field — over 150,000 lumens of radiant detail enveloping every surface of the dome.

20,000 Watts of Dolby Atmos Audio
Sound moves through spherical space — every vibration synchronized with the motion of light.

Complete Sensory Immersion
Recline beneath the 65-foot dome. Let time fall away. Witness the cosmic and microscopic merge into a single continuous field of consciousness.

Beyond Film. Beyond Reality.

Recombination is a meditation on existence itself — an exploration of how order arises from chaos, how art and mathematics reveal the same universal truth: that beauty and meaning are not separate, but intertwined.

This is the future of immersive cinema — where sound becomes architecture, light becomes emotion, and the infinite becomes visible.
