Step inside the visionary world of A.R. Rahman, the two-time Oscar and Grammy-winning composer behind Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, and over 150 film scores, now making his directorial debut with Le Musk.
Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, Le Musk is a groundbreaking cinematic experience that fuses Rahman’s signature musical mastery with breathtaking 360° visuals. Specially adapted for Vancouver’s The Dome, this 37-minute sensory journey unfolds across an enormous curved screen powered by eight Christie 4K projectors in 10K ultra-high resolution, enveloped by a 20,000-watt Dolby surround sound system.
The story follows Juliet Merdinian (Nora Arnezeder, Army of the Dead), an orphaned heiress and musician haunted by her past. When she receives a mysterious message, Juliet is drawn into a haunting search for truth — guided only by the lingering trace of three men marked by their scent. Shot in Rome with 14 synchronized cameras and completed by 10 international VFX studios, Le Musk delivers a visual and emotional depth unlike any other dome experience.
Originally conceived as a multisensory VR experience integrating motion, music, scent, and haptics, Le Musk has been reimagined exclusively for the fulldome format — transforming Rahman’s vision into a panoramic sensory odyssey. Select VIP seats at The Dome feature a prototype scent and wind delivery system, introducing seven unique fragrances and gentle air motion synchronized to the film’s emotional beats — a world-first multisensory dome presentation.
What to Expect
A riveting narrative: Follow Juliet, an orphaned Armenian heiress and musician, haunted by a single sensory memory — the scent of the men who shaped her fate.
Immersive storytelling: Originally designed for a custom-built VR chair with motion and scent, Le Musk transcends into large-format dome cinema, where sensory cues merge with monumental visuals and music to evoke deep emotional resonance.
Cinematic craftsmanship: Filmed in Rome with 8K multicamera capture and refined through an international stereoscopic 360° post-production pipeline, Le Musk stands as a feat of precision and artistry.
A world-first sensory dome: The Dome’s integration of wind, scent, and high-fidelity sound turns the theater itself into part of the narrative — an unprecedented step in experiential cinema.
A storyteller’s vision: Inspired by Rahman’s fascination with scent as a narrative medium — an idea born from his wife Saira’s shared passion for perfume — Le Musk becomes a meditation on memory, longing, and identity, rendered through the senses rather than words.
